PSP's Employment Services
Supported Employment (SE)
Our supported employment services help adults
with developmental and other disabilities find and keep careers
in mainstream companies. As one of the first SE vendors in the Northwest,
PSP has built our reputation around the exceptional support system we
offer program participants, their families/advocates and employers.
Our approach is customized and based around an individual's right to self-determination. PSP's services include career assessment, job development, specialized job training and assistive technology implementation. We also work with co-workers and managers to develop a natural support system for an employee and provide follow-up/job retention services as needed to help people keep their jobs.
School to Work (S2W)
The school to work program fulfills the important role of transitioning students with developmental disabilities from high school to a rewarding job in the community.
Because this process is vital to you pursuing the career of your choice and can impact your employment success, we urge you and your family to take the time to explore your options. You have the right to work with the supported employment vendor of your choosing. Look for a service provider who will listen to you, work with you and help implement your unique career plan.
PSP takes great pride in the personalized approach we bring to our S2W program. Students work with our Employment Consultants to identify a career path. We work to identify your interests through job shadowing and job try outs. We approach our employment partners and other community businesses to customize a position that will match the interests, skills and career goals of the participant with the workplace needs of the employer.
By creating a team approach involving the student, parents, PSP, educators, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and King County, we are able to optimize career readiness, find a good job match before graduation and lay the groundwork for a successful long-term partnership and career.
DVR Services
For people with a physical or mental disability seeking employment
through the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), PSP will work
closely with you to identify your career interests and job-related strengths.
Our contacts with local employers—both large and small— in a wide variety
of industries allow us to market your abilities to companies who value the
contribution of a diverse workforce.
We will provide the training and assistance to make your job placement a success. After 90 days, if you are doing well on the job and no other services are needed, your case will be closed. Later on, should you need assistance to stay employed or if you lose your job, your case can be reopened. PSP can then provide whatever help you need to get back on track.
